While early voting remained a dead heat between gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and opponent Karrin Taylor Robson, a poll shows that primary-day voters are expected to vote for Lake in droves.
“Voting is already underway and Lake is dominating among voters who have yet to vote but plan to vote before Election Day (41.7% to 25.8%) and those who plan to vote on Election Day (46.7% to 20.5%),” Creative Destruction Media reported. “Robson holds a statistically insignificant lead among those who have already cast a ballot, 42.5% to 41.9%.”
The poll was taken among 1,172 likely primary voters statewide via peer-2-peer text messaging from July 16 to July 18.
The primary election is being held Tuesday.
The Lake campaign told The Arizona Sun Times Monday that it is optimistic about Tuesday’s results.
“We feel highly confident. Kari is working hard traveling to all corners of the state. We had a huge rally with over 1,000 people in Tucson last night. And last week five polls came out with Kari leading by double digits,” Lake’s chief strategist Billy Grant told The Sun Times Monday. “Combined with Robson‘s private jet and state plane scandal, we couldn’t ask for a better last week of the campaign.”
Lake leads by a significant margin in RealClearPolitics’s aggregate polling.
That aggregation suggests she will beat Robson by 47 percent to 38 percent.
Only one poll shows the pair within the margin of error, and the Lake campaign says the methodology behind that poll, conducted by Emerson College, favors Robson.
“The media are so desperate to convince themselves that Karrin Taylor Robson can win,” Grant told The Sun Times Tuesday. “The Emerson College poll is a clear outlier, as every other poll commissioned in Arizona within the last week has Kari Lake leading by double digits. Kari Lake will be victorious tonight, and will finally prove these fake pollsters wrong once and for all.”
